I grew up in a house that was not safe, and I have spent most of my life learning that God was closer in the worst of it than in the easy parts. I write songs about what that has actually been like — loss, addiction, grief, survival, and the mercy that shows up in ordinary places.
Everything here is free. If a song helps you pray, or helps you keep going one more day, it has done its work.
